It Was a Great Senior BBQ on Sunday
God’s Work. Our Hands. is a Sunday observed by all of the ELCA churches all over the country. Technically, there should be over 4,000 congregations participating in this day, doing all sorts of service projects. The one we have chosen since the beginning of this day is to serve food to the senior citizens of our community.
Year after year we meet seniors who have been looking forward to our BBQ. They are thankful for the opportunity not just to eat delicious food provided by our church but the moment of fellowship, conversation, and sharing.
St. John’s has many good cooks, and you can taste everything from homemade potato salad, mac and cheese, baked beans, chicken, watermelon salad, and many other salads as well as lots of cake, cookies, and sweets.
In addition, we were serenaded by Robert Brent who led us in singing tunes from the sixties. A big thank you for this fun entertainment.
We also thank Tim Ryan and Marc Schlueter for heading up the BBQ committee and all the committee members who worked diligently and faithfully on a rainy and overcast day to turn it into a great day.
See you all next year!
