St. John’s Lutheran Church

Baptism

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
— Ephesians 4:4–6

St. John’s is a sacramental church.  It is a church of both Word and Sacrament. Our Sacraments are Baptism and the Eucharist. Each week we gather for bread and wine, arms outstretched to find forgiveness and to discover new life and healing.

Our journey begins at the font, where water is poured over us, our parents make promises, and we are marked with the cross of Christ marked on our forehead forever. It is here that we know we are a child of God, but in baptism we become part of the body of Christ, the Church. Before we know of God, God loves and knows us. Before we can affirm what we believe, God believes in us.

At St. John’s children are always welcome. At St. John’s the font holds a central place. At the table all are welcome and at the font we all begin our lifelong journey and adventure in faith.
