St. John’s Youth Group

And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
— Micah 6:8

The Youth Ministry is for youth in late Middle School and High School. It is a place to learn about the Bible and the Lutheran church. It is also a place to make new friends through service and social activities.

Pastor Henk leads a weekly confirmation class for youth. These are discussion-based classes where youth gain a deeper understanding of the church and are encouraged to discuss their beliefs. The goal of the confirmation class is to prepare youth to live out their faith in the church.

St. John’s encourages youth to get involved in service. The church is very involved in our community and there are many service opportunities such as the Midnight Run, support to refugees sponsored by the Church, decorating the church for high holidays and volunteer for the annual Tag Sale. These events inspire youth to grow in faith. There are also regular fellowship activities such as a Pizza and Move Night, a guided tour of the Cloisters. These are activities where our youth can relax and enjoy time spent together.

Get your child involved.

In July 2024, our youth group attended the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Every three years, thousands of high-school youth and their adult leaders gather for a week. Through days spent in learning, worship and fellowship, youth are challenged and inspired to live their faith.

At the Youth Ministry, our young people develop and bond together, worship God, and walk alongside one another on their faith journey. We welcome participants at any time and friends are always welcome. We look forward to learning and growing in faith together!
