A Good Guy Who Finished First

We said goodbye last week to John Glenn, who died at the considerable age of 95. He led an amazing life.  One newspaper article described him this way:  To Americans in the 1960s, Mr. Glenn was a clean-cut, good-natured, well-grounded mid-westerner, raised in Presbyterian rectitude, natured in patriotism and tested in war, who stepped forward to risk the unknown and succeeded spectacular, lifting his country's morale and restoring its self-confidence.As a senator, as an astronaut, as a husband, as a churchman (he sang in the church choir), he is a refreshing example to all of us who have been living through recent history, where we are listening to hate speech, fake news, and mediocre people wishing to influence the hearts and minds of all of us.  Sometimes good guys can finish first.  John Glenn did.
